Mohinder whimpered in his sleep, trying to run in his nightmare, unable to move. He was being chased down a long corridor, something dark following him, not giving him time to breathe. He burst through the double doors at the end, finding himself in a white room. The shadow howled at the door, afraid to come into the light. He breathed a sigh of relief, panting heavily to get his breath back. He gasped as the light flickered and he heard a maniacal laughter floating from the shadow.
“You can run all you want Mohinder, you can’t ever escape me. I’ll always be with you, following you, chasing you. You think you can stop me? A pitiful human being like you? I am all powerful; there is nothing on this earth that will stop me from taking what is mine.” The voice crooned at him, full of darkness, silky smooth. He knew that voice; it terrified him every time he closed his eyes. He gulped, stepping back from the doors, glancing up as the lights started to fade. The shadow grew bolder, opened the door to ooze inside of the room.
Mohinder’s back hit the wall and he glanced up as the lights slowly went off, one by one. The shadow swarmed around him, closing him in, giving him no where to run to. “Please, no more. I can’t…” He gasped out, shivering and cringing as he felt the shadow getting closer and closer. He squeezed his eyes shut, afraid of what would happen next.
That silky smooth voice whispered in his ear again, causing him to shudder. “You’re mine Mohinder, for now and for always. You think he’ll save you? Guess again Mohinder, there’s no one to save you. I’ll have you, mind, body and soul…” The words ended in a scream and the lights went out, engulfing him in the darkness.
He jerked awake, sitting up in the bed, running his hand over his sweaty face. God, he was getting tired of the nightmare; he’d had it every night for the last two weeks. He didn’t understand what it meant; just that he was in danger, somehow. Who was chasing him and who was protecting him? He let out a long sigh, getting out of bed. There was no point in trying to sleep anymore, it was almost time to get up anyways and he knew he wouldn’t fall back asleep.
Mohinder stared out the window, feeling eyes on him as he searched the darkness. He shivered, wondering if someone was watching him.
